Zihui Wei is a 2026 MA Contemporary Art Practice graduate from the Royal College of Art. Working across wearable art, fashion film, 3D animation, and interactive media, her practice examines the body as a site where identity, power, and cultural meaning are continually produced and negotiated. With a background in Fashion Design and Accessorie from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Wei brings a sustained interest in how technology mediates perception, embodiment, and agency.
Wei’s practice explores how psychological experience takes spatial and visual form, particularly in relation to fear, trauma, and dissociation. Working across digital collage, drawing, and moving image, she combines personal archives, childhood imagery, and constructed environments to examine how the body perceives and responds to threat.
Wei treats images as psychological traces rather than fixed representations. Through remaking and disassembling visual fragments, her work considers how individuals adapt to overwhelming experience and how inner states become embedded in the digital and physical environments we inhabit.
